Heading to Boston

We are heading to Boston this spring and I am so excited to visit this city!  We have talked about going to Boston multiple times but never pulled the trigger.  As if you couldn’t guess I am the planner in our marriage.  So I research and try and find all kinds of fun things to do and sweet Joe is so laid back he just goes along with all my crazy plans!  I ♥ him!!

I found a great airfare rate, so that’s done!  For accommodations I have been on the fence.  I am “member” of Sniqueaway, that offers some crazy good deals on 4 & 5 star accommodations.  Recently they had a deal on XV Beacon for $250 which is over $100 off their normal rates but still to pay that much a night for a hotel room seemed crazy!!  But I mean check out this place…

Ahhhh-mazing!  But the inner cheap-o in me just couldn’t do it!  So I’ve been looking for something a little less pricey. We won’t be renting a car so we need something that’s close to the T (the transit system in Boston.)  And something in the heart of Boston is a must!  We will be walking everywhere and will only have a few days so we must make the best use of our time!

I think the Chandler Inn could be a really good option…

So with all my researching hotels, I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface on eating – which HELLO is our favorite part of vacation!  So if you have ANY recommendations send them our way!  And if there’s something we must do or see – would also love to hear about too.  My friend Cindy, says we must go to the North End which is like a Little Italy from what I understand.  The historical sites will be a must!

Have you been to Boston before?  What were your favorite parts??

Bursting with style

My friend Amber, was recently asking about ways to brighten up her space.  A couple ideas were tossed around – but mirrors were one of the top options of being a great way to bring light into the a space.  It made me think of all the different Sunburst mirrors in blog land that people have come up with that cheap and easy.  (I think it’s ok to call a mirror cheap and easy – but don’t do it about a friend m‘kay?)

So I thought I’d share a couple with you…

Love the large scale size of this one

Allison’s project was featured on Apartment Therapy

Don’t you just love blog land!!!  So many good ideas and projects to create.  Have you worked on anything fun recently.  I have been a major slacker in the DIY department.  I have made a little progress in the dining room.  I’ve *found* the fabric for the window treatments.  I’ll explain later on what *found* means!

Happy project hunting!!

Hogwild for Honduras

If you have been following the blog for any time you know we have a heart for a group of children in Honduras.  We will be going this summer again to be with the Children of New Life Orphanage.  Do you remember our trip from last year?  You can see some of the great pictures here, here and here.

We have been planning our annual BBQ fundraiser:  Hogwild for Honduras.  Today we delivered over 425 plate lunches to businesses in the Charlotte area.  It was a lot of work but went great!!  We make everything from scratch and smoke the pork over night.  It’s yummy stuff!!  We will get the next load of pork shoulders on the smokers tonight and be having our drive thru open tomorrow.  If you are in the area please swing by and get a tasty lunch from 11-2 pm.  We will be @ 6740 Albemarle Road – Albemarle Presbyterian Church.
